I've never seen so many flat earthers seethe since I first created this group, the anger, the stupidity, the autism. It's reaching levels I've never thought possible.

Keep crying in chat losers. 👍
A sun dog occurs because the hexagonal shape of ice crystals only refract light from 22° to 50°. No light is refracted outside the range. This result in a dark sky from the position of the Sun up until 22° from the Sun, then it suddenly becomes bright from 22° and tapers off until 50°.

Red light is refracted less strongly than other visible light, giving the red hue of the inner edge of sun dogs.
Shout out to all the flat earthers in chat! 😂
I encourage proper discussion amongst flat earthers if they really want TRUTH.

In the illustration, we used a Nikon P1000 to photograph a lamp on a dark background, from wide-angle (24mm) to telephoto (860mm), using both manual and full-automatic exposure (green square mode). We used the same exposure the full auto mode gave us for the shots in the manual mode.

The wider the zoom, the less the lamp occupies the frame, and the darker the overall scene. The autoexposure compensated it by increasing the exposure. As a result, the lamp becomes overexposed, with a noticeable glare around it. The glare is not part of the lamp but is only a result of an overexposed light source against a dark background.

On the other hand, the longer the zoom, the more the lamp occupies the frame. The overall scene becomes brighter, and the autoexposure system compensates by reducing the exposure. As a result, we can observe the actual image of the lamp at the expense of the surrounding that becomes invisibly dark.

We can lock the exposure using manual exposure, and the light source appears the same even though we are changing the zoom.

Here’s a lovely photograph from the salt flats in Utah from photographer David Cook.
Any of you flat earthers care to explain what's going on here?
If the water’s surface is colder than the air, it will cool down a thin layer of air just above the surface and cause stronger refraction near the surface. Thus, a ray of light that skims across this layer of air will be strongly refracted.

As a result, a ray of light coming from objects near the surface will be able to reach a viewer far behind the horizon, but the objects will appear compressed and distorted to the viewer and will not resemble the actual objects. However, a nondescript, intense point light source will stand out, especially if against a darker surrounding.

It is the reason that the various experiments involving light sources done by flat-Earthers are not “evidence” that the curvature does not exist. There are better methods of doing experiments that these people will avoid because there will be fewer opportunities to misrepresent the results to support their beliefs.
Yawned and uttered "BORING" after listening to some losers playing Xbox with each other in the Official Flat Earth Discord.

I was banned immediately.
With something like a sundial, we do not have to account for such a minuscule angle because the gnomon is not far from the base and will not affect the function of the sundial.

On the other hand, in the case of eclipses, the objects involved are much larger and much farther. Therefore, the angle of sun rays is critical to the problem, and we have to consider it. We need the angle to determine the type of solar eclipse (total or annular), the path of totality, the length of a total lunar eclipse, etc.
Some of them would take it further and claim that the fact the photos are composites are “proof” that there are no “real” photos of the Earth. They are wrong. There are many such pictures, which were taken in a single exposure.

And obviously, the existence of these composite pictures of Earth can never be used to prove a flat-Earth.

Can't believe Wild Beast took a trip to the moon, congratulations on your safe arrival.

Unfortunately there was only enough fuel for a trip TO the moon, not BACK to Earth as well.

Enjoy your stay, freak.
I've been frequenting both MCToon and FTFE's channel watching debates on flat earth and I must say, do flat earthers have any idea how to use a computer? The first 15 minutes of almost every stream are flerfs having technical issues, it's so fucking common I'm starting to think that flerfs actually do in fact have some sort of learning disability.
The starburst effect gets more pronounced when a narrow aperture is being used. A small opening is usually used to maximize depth of field, to make both close and distant objects equally in focus. Sunrise and sunset photography utilizes this technique, especially if the photographer wants to emphasize nearby objects as well as the distant sun.

The picture on the upper right is an extreme example. The photographer wanted to take time-lapse images of the 24 hours Antarctic midnight sun. The camera is made to focus on both a very distant object (the sun) and a nearby object (his wristwatch). To achieve that, he had no choice but to use a very narrow aperture.

A smaller aperture results in a more pronounced starburst effect. If it is desired to minimize the effect, the photographer has to use a larger opening, or use a higher quality lens with larger, smoother blades. Sometimes this effect is deliberately used for artistic purposes.
We don’t live in a vacuum, and it is not easy to create a vacuum environment for experiments. However, we can use many everyday things to demonstrate Newton’s third law:

Discharging a fire extinguisher will push us backward.
While sitting in a wheeled chair, throwing heavy objects will cause the chair to move in the other direction.
While on a small boat, throwing heavy objects will cause the boat to move in the other direction.
Firing a gun will cause a recoil.
These things are some examples of Newton’s third law, which forms the basis of how a rocket engine works. Even if the demonstrations are done in a non-vacuum environment, it is clear that air does not cause motion in these cases.
