Android Headlines has shared new images of the upcoming Pixel 8a. There will be a total of 4 color options: Obsidian, Mint, Porcelain, and Bay. It looks like the device will indeed have a matte back cover.

Pixel 9 series will get an updated modem with emergency satellite connectivity support.

As reported by Kamila Wojciechowska (via Android Authority), the Tensor G4 coming to the Pixel 9 series will come with a new Samsung Modem 5400. This modem has support for the 3GPP Release 17 standard, which provides support for "non-terrestrial 5G networks," or in other words, satellite communications.

The modem will appear in all Tensor G4-based devices with cellular support, including the Pixel 9 series and the next-generation Pixel Fold. Google is also reportedly in the early stages of developing a 5G tablet codenamed "clementine" with the same modem.
