Why does Saturn have a ring system?

Probably the reason for the formation of the rings is several consecutive absorptions by Saturn of its satellites.

Calculations show that after Saturn was formed, several large satellites orbited close to Saturn. Gradually, due to gravitational effects, these satellites one after another "fell" into the bowels of Saturn.

In the process of descending from their orbits and entering the spiral trajectory, the satellites were destroyed. At the same time, the light ice component remained in space, while the heavy mineral components of the celestial bodies were attracted by the planet.
Every 100 years Phobos is attracted to Mars by 2 meters

In about 20-40 million years, the satellite will be destroyed by the tidal forces of Mars into many pieces, which form a kind of ring around the planet.

The largest pieces of this ring will eventually fall to the surface of Mars in millions of years, forming fairly large craters. In turn, the smaller pieces will also eventually disappear.

This event will be celebrated as periodic meteor showers, which can be observed from the surface of the Red Planet.

The Earendel star

Hubble has detected a new star, Earendel, the Morning Star (WHL0137-LS), which is the furthest star on record from Earth. (WHL0137-LS).

The astronomical object is 12.9 billion light years away!
NASA is tracking 1,397 space bodies in our Solar System

So they are trying to prevent dramatic scenes from movies like Armageddon.

A collision with them would lead to the end of human civilization.

Have no doubt: any body with a diameter of more than 100 meters, approaching the Earth at less than 8 million kilometers, will be detected in time by NASA specialists. πŸ‘Œ
Sister of Earth: planet Kepler-186 f

Kepler-186 f is the first exoplanet with a radius close to Earth's (about 7200 km) discovered in the habitable zone of its parent star.

So far no one knows if Kepler-186 f is inhabited.
Yeah, Venus and Mars are also in the habitable zone of the solar system, but no one has found any traces of life there yet.
Voyager Gold Plate

This is a gold-plated information plate with audio and video signals recorded on one side, and explanatory engraving on the other.

It depicts the installation diagram of the recording needle, the speed of playback, and the way the video signals are converted into an image recorded in the binary system.

Thanks to this image, alien civilizations would be able to locate the Sun.πŸ‘½
The direction of the tail of comet NEOWISE changed due to the Earth's motion

Like all comets, the blue ion tail is always directed away from the Sun.

Between July 17 and July 25, 2020 (when these images were taken) the Earth was moving in its orbit around the Sun, and because of this the Sun's position in the sky was also changed.

Consequently, the tail shifted. β˜„οΈ
Preserved impact crater in Australia🏜

Wolfe Creek
was formed by the fall of an iron meteorite weighing about 5,000 tons (!) about 300,000 years ago.

The crater is 880 meters in diameter and almost 60 meters deep.

πŸ“ŒFor illustration: 500,000 years ago, humans became modern, and 160,000 years ago the Cro-Magnon appeared.
This photo depicts not a cosmonaut, but l the RadioScape-1 satellite

It was created on the basis of Orlan-M spacesuit hull. Inside the empty space suit there were three batteries, a radio transmitter and internal sensors for measuring temperature and battery charge.

Unfortunately, the RadioScape-1 mission was not a success. It ceased working after two turns around the Earth due to battery failure.
How much is in one picture😍

Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE), silver clouds, Pleiades, Venus and atmospheric glow - all in one stunning photo from the ISS
When astronauts close their eyes, they see flashes of light - about once every 3 minutes πŸ™„

There is a theory that this phenomenon is due to the effect of high-energy particles (so-called cosmic rays) hitting the retina. However, it wasn’t confirmed experimentally in any way.

Perhaps the "flash" effect can be explained by some failures in the nervous system.
The first-ever spacecraft collision occurred in 2009

The long-decommissioned Russian military satellite Cosmos-2251 collided in its orbit with the active American satellite Iridium-33.

Such collisions are now trying to be avoided as debris can threaten not only other satellites but also the ISS.
Zodiacal light

A faint glow observed shortly after sunset or just before sunrise.

This effect is created by cosmic dust - the microscopic remnants of comets, asteroids, and stars.

M31 The Andromeda`s Halo - The Andromeda Galaxy

It is the closest large spiral galaxy to our Milky Way😱

This galaxy is 2.5 million light-years away and can be seen in the Earth's night sky as a small, dim, elongated cloud, barely visible to the naked eye.

Rainbow around the Sun β˜€οΈ

An impressive natural phenomenon - the halo effect.
The Lyrids are an annually active meteor shower formed by comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher

Historical records show that mankind has been observing the Lyrids for over 2,500 years.

βœ”οΈThe oldest mention of it comes from China: it says that "the stars fell like rain" on the night of March 16, 687 B.C.

Earlier it was much more active than it is now. On April 20, 1803, a meteor storm blew over the east coast of the United States - the number of shooting stars was as high as 700 per hour!
Why is Pluto no longer considered a planet?

Since 2006, Pluto was classified as "minor planets and asteroids”.

Scientists were forced to revise the classification by the discovery of Ceres and Eris. They, like Pluto, have not yet cleared their orbit of extraneous celestial bodies. In addition, Pluto cannot be considered the most massive body in its neighborhood.

Therefore, despite the presence of an atmosphere and its own satellite, it is still not considered the ninth planet.
