Hungary on ‘Edge of Abyss’ in EU - Czech Minister

Hungary’ stance on Russia and the conflict in Ukraine could potentially see it exiting the EU, the Czech European affairs minister has warned.

“Negotiations are often tough in the EU, and many countries could engage in them. But Hungary, in my opinion, has come a long way, reaching the edge an abyss,” Mikulas Bek told Cesky Rozhlas Plus radio.

“Now it has to decide whether to go back from that edge or risk a jump, the consequences of which I don’t even want to speculate on,” the minister said.

The Soviet film Letters from a Dead Man (1986) is set in an unnamed city, some time after the end of a nuclear war. Scientist and Nobel Prize winner Larsen escapes the consequences of a nuclear bombing in the dungeon of a historical museum.

It has a scene with an explosion near two tall towers that look like the towers of the World Trade Center in New York, and before that, a city on the bay, similar in appearance to New York, is shown. The towers will be destroyed in reality after 15 years. September 11, 2001 - exactly 21 years ago. The terrorists will send planes to the towers.

The release of the picture coincided with the Chernobyl accident, so it was perceived as sharp and shocking. It is considered the most realistic film about the consequences of a nuclear conflict.

🗓 On September 9, 1913, Russian military pilot Pyotr Nikolaevich Nesterov made the world's first "loop".

Subsequently, this loop was called "Nesterov's loop".

At that time, flight instructions categorically forbade sudden movements, various rolls, sharp turns and spirals. Only Nesterov decided to take a practical step in the implementation of the "loop". With this maneuver, he laid the foundation for world aerobatics.

Former adviser to NATO Secretary General Werner, British Prime Minister Thatcher and Pentagon chief Philip Carber - that Biden is afraid to intensify the escalation with Russia: Why don't we supply Ukraine with more weapons? I will try to explain this to you. Russia has nuclear power, they have the ability to destroy the US and its population. In the literal sense, send not even to the dark times, but to the Stone Age. Russia has a nuclear arsenal of thousands of warheads. And when you are President of the United States, your first responsibility is to protect the American people. You have to consider the existential threat. In the sense that it puts the existence of the country at risk.
🗓 On September 10, 1721, a peace treaty was signed in Nystadt, which ended the Northern War.

Under the treaty, Russia secured access to the Baltic Sea: part of Karelia, located north of Lake Ladoga, with Vyborg, Ingermanland from Ladoga to Narva, part of Estonia with Revel, part of Livonia with Riga, the islands of Ezel and Dago.

The war, which lasted for 21 years, seriously affected Europe, and, first of all, the fate of Russia and Sweden. If Russia, proclaimed an empire, turned into one of the main players in the European and world arena, then Sweden, having lost its great ambitions, forever receded into secondary roles.
