Abiy Ahmed's latest meddling in Church affairs and his attempt to undermine & silence the voice the Oromo bishops (never mind his siding with the wrong doers) is going to have a far-reaching political consequence in Oromia and the wider Ethiopia.
His act/talk is an insult to the bishops, the church, its synod and to the entire Oromo public.
It's one (wrong) thing to violate the principle of secularism. But it is another to favour one side and blame the victims, and do so only because of their (Oromo) national identity. It is wrong.
The entirety of his speech/act is so wrong on many levels that it needs a universal condemnation as the Oromo bishops and politicians take appropriate measures including legal ones.
In the days to come, we will critically engage with his most recent intervention (pun intended!).

These are people who fled their villages/towns because of want and starvation. They say they came from Eastern Harargee Zone (and one of them says she is from Fadis). What caused this? Reports indicate that after their chat farms are sold to mega chat traders of the OPP (and after household chat sale is virtually banned), people are now exposed to famine. Those who can are fleeing in all directions, some to Jijjiga, others to Dirre-Dhawaa, and yet others to the neighbouring highlands of Western Harargee Zone.
While recognising that the imperative of supporting the people is paramount, we cannot ignore the responsibility of #Abiy_Ahmed’s regime for causing this crisis.
